Facet — Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 14, 2026

Facet is a viewer for 3D and CAD files on iPhone and iPad. This policy says what the app does with your information. The short version: Facet collects no data.

What Facet collects

Nothing. Facet has no account, no sign-in and no analytics or advertising software from third parties. The developer does not receive your files, your name, your email address, your device identifiers or your location, and does not build a profile of you.

Your files

The 3D and CAD files you open (STL, STEP/STP, DXF, OBJ, GLB/glTF, 3MF, G-code) are read and processed on your device only. They are never uploaded, and Facet opens no network connection of its own to do so. The app keeps a small list of recently opened files and their thumbnails in its own storage on your device so the home screen can show them; deleting the app deletes them. Exporting or sharing a file (a Pro feature, and screenshots) happens only when you ask for it, through the iOS share sheet, to the place you choose.

Network

Facet's own code makes no network requests: no servers, no cloud, no sign-in, no ads. Purchases are the one exception handled by the system: when you buy or restore Pro, iOS and the App Store talk to Apple on behalf of the app (see below).

Purchases

Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple. Payment details never reach the developer. The app asks the App Store only whether Pro is unlocked on your Apple Account. Family Sharing for Pro follows your Apple settings.

Advertising attribution

If you installed Facet after tapping an Apple Search Ads ad, iOS may send the advertising network an aggregated, privacy-preserving postback (Apple's AdAttributionKit). The app only gives the operating system a small number from 0 to 4 for how far you got (installed; opened a first model; opened three models; opened the Pro screen; purchased Pro). The number holds no file name, format or personal information, carries no identifier, and is sent by iOS, not by Facet. Facet does not use Apple's AdServices attribution token.

Diagnostics

Apple may give the developer aggregated, non-identifying statistics and crash reports, in App Store Connect and Xcode, only from people who turned on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings. If you did not, nothing is shared. Facet also receives crash and hang counts from iOS (MetricKit) and writes them to the on-device system log; they are not sent anywhere.

Children

Facet is not directed to children and collects no information from anyone.

Your rights

Because the developer holds no personal data about you, there is nothing to access, correct or delete on our side. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. The app will not start collecting data without a prior update to this policy and to its App Privacy answers on the App Store.
